Heat interested in Jamal Crawford

Three point shooting is an area the Heat needs to address during free agency. The Heat finished the season ranked 27th in three point shooting percentage at 33.6 percent.

With three point shooting a need this off-season, the Heat have already set their sights on one guard. The Heat, according to Dan Woike of the OC Register, are one of seven teams showing interest in Clippers free agent guard Jamal Crawford this summer.

Crawford, who does have a meeting scheduled with the Clippers, is also drawing interest from a number of teams in search of a scoring guard. Crawford is expected to receive interest from the New York Knicks, the Miami Heat, the Toronto Raptors, the Dallas Mavericks, the Orlando Magic and the Brooklyn Nets in addition to the Clippers.

Jamal Crawford is known for being one of the streakiest shooters in the league. He shoots a decent percentage from three(34.9 for his career), but has shown throughout his career he has the ability to light it up from three. And when he's on fire its hard to stop him. Winning three sixth man of the year awards, Crawford has also shown he'll accept playing a reserve role as well. And the Heat would love to have him backup Dwyane Wade.

Considering the decisions the Heat will have to make with Dwyane Wade and Hassan Whiteside, they'll probably only be able to offer the room exception(2.9 million) to Crawford at the most. Coming off a $5 million deal, we don't know if he'll be chasing more money with the cap rising to 94 million. Most guys at Crawford's age, 36, would normally look to join contending teams for less money. So we'll see what happens.
